Sometimes I feel shame when I go out in public. I think it is because other kids teased me when I was little.

Hi Abbey, (Please read my profile to see my credentials) I have suffered from shame a good portion of my adult life...and while I cannot speak for you...I know MY shame was definitely instilled in childhood. Because of my vocation (as a professional counselor and speaker) I had much "mandatory" experience in college and grad school, and have since come to realize I have overcome many of my fears and my feeling(s) of shame are completely gone! I am a bit of a research hound, so I voraciously studied and determined that I was going to "slay the dragon" once and for all...the best thing I did for me what tell myself the truth. I have a method that works 9 out of 10 times...not just for myself but for others. If you're still on this website, and check these messages, please reply to this email and we'll begin the conversation that may help to change your life! :-) (she said with all humility) Blessings, Paula

Hi Abbey, There's no cure for shame. The only thing that you could do is to change your attitude toward it. When I feel ashamed or shy to which I still do until now but is lesser compared before, I just read talk my feeling to my close friends and to mature persons I know. It's great because they give feedback that really helped me. When others are not around, I just read some self-help books.
