    my boyfriend is schizopheric

Thank author of this post/commentfirst and foremost, i never knew about psycho illnesses until i met my boyfriend.he never talked about his illness until recently when i found out that hes got lots of medicines in his cabin.i do really love him but am scared about my future.Hes been on and off working and since he lost his 1st, 2nd and 3rd work, hes been at home only looking for a job online.to my surprise, he always get the job but he turns up the first day and the second day or even a week then he decides that the job aint good so hes now jobless.he cannot even keep a penny in his pocket he overspend and now hes bankruft and the parents helps in paying his bills.i really want to help him to have a successful life but how, on the other hand no one wants to be sick so is he.Dr, do you think this disease is treatable?do you think he can change and love his work in the near future!life without the basic needs aint life!please advice

    Danny from Dallas

    Sounds like someone is lazy.

Hi Miss Kite from Germany. Are you sure your boy friend is schizophrenic? I have to agree with Danny that your partner is just plain lazy. By the way I want you to answer me a couple of questions here.

How long have you two been together? Aren't you turned off by such attitude? Do you really belief it is schizophrenia? Are you willing to help him through this "ailment" or "disorder"? Do you really love him?

Hi there Kate! Your boyfriend isn't schizophrenic, he is what you call a drug dependent. Have you seen what kind of drugs does he have in his cabin? Try to investigate and know the names of each drugs and research. Maybe, he just has a weird medical condition which needed medication or worst, he is a drug addict. Maybe in some sick sort of a way he might be schizophrenic but let me assure you it is not because it happened naturally, it could be caused by the drugs his been using this past few weeks (or years).

Good point Drake.. I would definitely look into that if I was you Kate. You might find the answer your looking for.

    #6

    under you

how are things with your situation kate? anything better?

    #7

    Sammy

I don't think your boyfriend is schizophrenic. I think he is just using it as an excuse.

    #8

    Elena

So what do you think is her boyfriend's excuse Sammy? Do you think it has something to do with another girl or third party? Hahaha You could at least tried stating what is he making excuse for. I think your partner is a drug dependent freak and before things escalate I suggest you pack your bags and go as far possible from him. If you have some respect still respect in you you'll do what I am saying. You deserve a lot better rather than a low life drug dependent.

This does sound like he is on drugs or maybe he is just lazy, I would talk to him about it, and tell him if he does not get a job and keep it than your going to leave, and also ask him whats wrong with him, and why he cant keep these jobs.

I think your boyfriend is just a lazy maniac. It is not a matter of he is good at his job, it is how he wants to have a job. It seems like he is just dependent on his family and soon...to you. Do you want that to happen or do you want him to forever be a parasite? Try to make him realize his attitude and make him wake up in reality. If he loves you he will think for his future and yours as well. So wake up girl, and bump your boyfriend's head on the wall..then maybe he will wake up as well.

Thank author of this post/commentOh, if that's the case, you don't have your future with you if you are going to be his wife. Even though you love him but there's no point in living with him when he cannot fix his own life.

Peronally, I think it would be unfair to conclude that he is schizophrenic unless you have come across a diagnosis of some sort. Schizophrenics are known to hallucinate a lot besides being drug dependent. There is something he could be keeping away from you and that could be the cause of his seemingly slippery nature at the work place. Whether he is supposed to be your partner is your own matter of choice. Love should not cloud obvious decisions unless you are willing to help him out of that dungeon

All about getting relationships without doing your own research well...you are the guy's girlfriend for heaven's sake. Try talking to him and help him seek medical attention. You could call the realtionship quits aand help him out as a friend. Stuff might eventually happen and you will shoulder a huge chunk of the blame.

So did Kite find a solution to whatever fix she had been talking about? I have reason to believe this is more than just any other ordinary illness or just a simple mental condition. I know of schizophrenics as being really drug dependent because it is normally said to recur a huge chunk of the time. Have you tried seeking medical help or talking to him? There could be something he fears telling you.

Did Kate ever bother to ever return to this forum? I do hope so.

Is it true that schizophrenics tend to have the habit of being resisitive to personal relationships? Is it treatable in any case?

    What is schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that affects the way a person acts, thinks, and sees the world. People with schizophrenia have an altered perception of reality, often a significant loss of contact with reality. They may see or hear things that don’t exist, speak in strange or confusing ways, believe that others are trying to harm them, or feel like they’re being constantly watched. With such a blurred line between the real and the imaginary, schizophrenia makes it difficult—even frightening—to negotiate the activities of daily life. In response, people with schizophrenia may withdraw from the outside world or act out in confusion and fear.

Try to watch A Beautiful Mind..

Thanks for shading enough light Gilbert. I think that mental disorders border on a very thin line with respect to diagnosis and how they affect a person in question. So in that case it becomes hard to tell what mental illness a person could be suffering from.

It is no doubt that what you have said about this condition is correct. There has always been talk of schizophrenia recurring

    Sonia

Yeah I already watched that movie and it is a pro, i also would like to suggest A Beautiful Mind to you Kite, so that you would be able to understand the situation more, that is if your boy friend really is schizopheric.

I also would suggest that, girl, love your self first so you would be able to love and understand others, especially your SICK boyfriend. Love ist always being there physically... you know what I mean..

    #19

    Reuben

Yes, you have a point there but what if he needs your presence more than anything else?

If yo love a person most especially if you are having relationship with him already, like Kite's situation, you have to think it over.

But, there are also limitations to everything. If your boyfriend does not make it on realizing his fault and still continue on his bad ways then it is time to give him up

    Friendly

Schizophrenia is a disease, so far incurable. That person should be checked out by a medical professional. Good medication has been produced for this illness that keeps the patient at least functioning in society. (see "Brilliant Minds")

    #21

    Wendy

Hi there Friendly, i think you are referring to "Beautiful Mind" and not "Brilliant Minds".. Or is there really Brilliant Minds, i have not heard of that before. Anyway i have to check on that.

And to your post regarding the disease, yes indeed, it is incurable and yet there are some sort of short remedies to help those people suffering from it to atleast perform the basic ADLs.. Cioa

Maybe these schizopheric just have gone over with their imagination to much and can't distinguish its boundaries between it and the real world.

Some studies says the one of the cause of these mental conditions can be genetic, so for "kite from germany", I would really suggest you to think carefully if you really want to pursue your relationship with your boyfriend and have future with him

And the drugs he's taking is not an assurance for treatment, I could also worsen some of the symptoms.

    Let us understand Schizophrenia more

    What causes schizophrenia?

Genes and environment. Scientists have long known that schizophrenia runs in families. The illness occurs in 1 percent of the general population, but it occurs in 10 percent of people who have a first-degree relative with the disorder, such as a parent, brother, or sister. People who have second-degree relatives (aunts, uncles, grandparents, or cousins) with the disease also develop schizophrenia more often than the general population. The risk is highest for an identical twin of a person with schizophrenia. He or she has a 40 to 65 percent chance of developing the disorder.

Here is some more info about Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. Distortions in perception may affect all five senses, including sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch, but most commonly manifest as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking with significant social or occupational dysfunction. Onset of symptoms typically occurs in young adulthood.
