People diagnosing themselves with God knows what?

Thank author of this post/commentI've noticed that nowadays people seem to diagnose themselves with various mental illnesses such as depression, bi-polar disorder, ocd and eating disorders. My mother is a mental health nurse and says the same -- that it has almost become a trend of sorts to have a mental illness. Do you agree? What do you think about the issue?

Yes, its true! People nowadays think that having a mental illness is somewhat "trendy". When they know what these mental disorders really mean, I'm sure they wouldn't want it affixed to theirs. Mental illnesses, are serious diseases is not something a person should be trending about, its something to be taken with attention since its detrimental (especially eating orders!). People who have really these diseases are treated.

I am also having the same observation with people. Maybe they are depressed but not to the extent that they are having any mental illness. Like bi polar, it is serious illness and yet lots of people seemed to claim that they are suffering from such. It is never easy dealing with any diseases and illnesses. So we have to be positive and optimistic in facing every trials for us to not have a weak body.

There are many people who may have suffered from mental illness. Hence, they also need special attention and understanding because of the situation they have. It is not easy to cope with this kind of situation. It will be hellpful if they see a doctor for effective solution to overcome this ilness. Moreover, tehy should obtain moral support from their parents and relatives. Thank you and great day to all.

Sometimes it's easier to self diagnose your mind with an ailment that is professionally recognized and pitied than search to find the true cause of your bad mood, foul temper, laziness, apathy or whatever. That's not to say that there aren't thousands of people who do genuinely suffer from these illnesses and deserve our pity and help. But too many people just slap a label on themselves to excuse why they don't do anything about their issues.
