| Answers: How to win an argument with an articulate idiot? One who is dogmatic in their views and believes they are right when you know for a fact they are wrong. I will give you an example. My college teacher was showing off her knowledge and said "If people with mental illness wanted to get over it, they could. Even without medication, if they wanted to help it they could". I know how hard it is to get over, even with medication and was going to say something but she was convinced she was right. Nothing would convince her otherwise? Would you say she was open minded? |
| I think it's really difficult to win an argument over these people. Of course they are not open minded. If they are, it would be very easy to convince them about certain things. These are the type taht you cannot correct them even if they know they are wrong. they are the egoistic type. They just think about their opinions and they always think they are always right. I think these are the people I have difficulty dealing with. |

Why do you need to win an argument to begin with? Why would you argue with someone you consider to be an idiot, much less spend any time with them? |
| Why you need to argue to those people who have a mental illness? You don't have to do it and besides you also know that they are not in a good condition. All you have to do is don't talk to them and let them say what they want and most of all don't mind what they say. Just understand their situation especially that they are not open minded in that case. |

| I'd say the professor was inexperienced on the topic. I think it has something to do university professor's perceived higher intelligence. I remember being in university and hearing some of the most idiotic statements as well as some of the most brilliant come from the lectern. Dot try to argue with these people as it's impossible. Just don't agree with them. |

I do agree with some of the comments. If you know for sure that the person is an idiot, he becomes more eligible for your sympathy. Well, to be sympathetic does not mean you need to agree with him. All you do is to agree to disagree and make no attempt to change his opinion. However one should be careful to declare someone an idiot because that is the easiest thing one can do in self defense when facing some one who is in disagreement with your Ideas and thoughts and you fail in convincing him with your own logic and reasoning. Many a times we tend to satisfy our own ego by calling the other person an articulate idiot. |
