| Twenty-three years and can't take it anymore! My husband and I are a May-December relationship. I'm 44 and he is 65. When we got married, I was deeply in love with this man and it seemed that it was a match made in heaven. We had a lot in common. Now, 23 years later I'm so stressed that I'm working on anxiety attacks.Long story short - he was a drinker when we met and we used to party a lot. But about 10 years later and two children later, he became a mean drunk. Found out that he had PTSD from the military and he went to counseling for a while. He stopped drinking and has not gone back since but other things have taken the place of alcohol. He is a compulsive shopper now and he seems to get angrier every day, as I do. I just don't think I can handle this situation any longer. It is causing too much stress on me and my kids because he and I are always arguing. I suggested marriage counseling and he refuses. Another problem is is that I have been a stay at home mother for all of these years. I got my degree while at home but still have not found a job. How am I going to take care of my children, is there places that can help until I get on my feet? I'm so scared and sad, and I'm at a total loss. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
