| nagelMy wife of 10 years has just walked out. She was diagnosed with cyclothymia and for the past eight months i have tried logic, emotion, common sense and gentle trying to get her to do things that are required in our everyday world. today i asked her what she thinks that she is free of. I am a farmer from a stable and work ethic based family. My family has been great through this all but they and i don't fully understand the mental illness side. My family and i have supported my wife through 6 years of university and we are all just very supportive of the effort and accomplishment of my wife. 2 months after graduation my wife is alone, finding it hard to apply for jobs and move her stuff out of the house and is out of the marriage. she said feels free of responsibility (you know i don't do gwell with that one she said) there is no waiting for a reward or working things out. she has a wall up and it doesn't seem to be coming down anytime soon. my wife takes dom-citalopram and mylan lamotrigine and thinks that a marriage that requres work is too much required of her. Me and my family feel discarded but are trying to be understanding given our exposure to this disease. I have let her go, there is nothing else to do. She also has been diagnosed with social anxiety and and panic attacks. it seems like every year there is a new phobia which lends to excusing the symptoms of the cyclothymia. i am tryng my best not to take this all to personally but i also cannot write her off because i have seen the potential genuine person that i lived with for 7 of the 10 years we have been married. Does poor memory come into this illness at all? Thank you david |
