a relationship with a bipolar sufferer

Hi,

A bit over a month ago I decided to just go for it and have a relationship with a bipolar sufferer: despite her swings in mood and feelings, we had both liked each other for a long time. I always knew it'd be hard to continue a relationship with her as we're only 17 but I thought i could be there fore her throughout it all, and for a short period it really did work. But now she ended it the other day because she is determined to protect me form her illness and refuses to bring me down with her. So she is having a time out and getting help for it now. But she can't see me or talk to me normally anymore, when literally a couple of days ago she could share it and i could help her. I was just wondering, if you could please help me because I am trying to give her space to get better and then she can be more stable for our relationship, but i know sufferers need support. Maybe I'm not the person to give her that support for now but i really care for her and i can't help but think her not wanting to bring me down is just wrong. With everyone on here saying it is possible to continue a relationshp i wanted to know, how? Because I need to somehow tell her that it is possible not to bring me down with her, rather, i can be part of the support that brings her up.

Thank you.

I am bi polar. Try to love her as much as you can, support her as a friend. Love her as a lover if you want, but be prepared for the consequences. She will cheat on you, If you love her, cope, if not RUN
