Hi there

I am a consultant working with a team of psychologists in Melbourne, Australia.

The team are co-ordinating MoodSwings, an online self help program for people with bipolar disorder. They are actively looking for those with bipolar to take part in the program but only have a window until October to find willing people.

I thought that I would provide your readers more information about the MoodSWings, so they can then decide if they are interested in being involved.

It is based on an effective face-to-face group program. The program is all online which allows people to work through the program in their own time and at their own pace.

There is also a moderated bipolar support chat room where people can discuss issues raised in the program – or other issues around living with bipolar disorder in a small group forum with others who understand. There are a number of modules that make up MoodSwings, including bipolar diagnosis, impact of stress and triggers, bipolar medications, depression, mania and hypomania. Each module contains information as well as tips and strategies and is designed to give those involved with the program a greater understanding of the disorder, as well as having some additional skills.

Places are still available for those wanting to participate but registrations will close in October, 2008. Participants can be located anywhere in the world, but need to be 18 years of age and have been diagnosed with bipolar.

This program is being co-ordinated by Sue Lauder a psychologist who has worked in the area of bipolar disorder for the past 6 years. Professor Michael Berk is the programs chief investigator and is regarded as an international expert in the area of bipolar disorder.
